The shot is copied to the clipboard. You have to paste it to an application like Paint.

NO ACCESSIBILITY OPTION

I bought a new MacBook Pro in 2011 and I don’t have the “Accessibility” option under “Accessories”; instead there’s a folder called “Ease of Access” where you can find “on-screen keyboard”.

I was ripping my hair out for a while trying to find this so hopefully others with the same machine will find this comment helpful.

After hours of wasted time with browser plugins this has done the trick. I was trying to screengrab from YouTube and the videos just show as black on everything else. This worked perfectly. Thank you!

Thank you for the How-To, thank you Alex for explaining the clipboard part and thank the rest of you for the keycombinations.

As a Mac user I expect a file to be generated. I also expected to hear the typical sound of a camera click. Unfortunately that sound only comes when using the “On Screen Keyboard”. One learns new wonderous things every day

Would be a good idea to add that info to the How-To.

For Windows 7 in bootcamp, I think the onscreen keyboard is the only way.

Hi. I tried various combinations but none worked for me running Windows 7 Ultimate on Mac Book Pro with BootCamp 3.1. However, thanks for the inspiration, I found that Alt+Shift+fn+F12 worked! So thank you guys, hope this will help people running Windows 7 in Boot Camp.

On an Apple External Keyboard, it’s now F14, option+F14 for just the window.

It’s F11 on a laptop keyboard.

macbook pro keyboad (no ext keyboard)
in guildwars game only
to remove ui
ctrl shift H
screen shot
fn shift F11

Ok, so there are a LOT of “thank you”s here already. But, I gotta say this is exactly the piece of information I needed right now. I searched for “how to take a screenshot in Windows when you don’t have a prnt scrn key” and you came up about halfway down the page. Yeah!!!
